College faculty file for conciliation as management refuses to consider proposed improvements

After three days of discussions, progress has stalled with management refusing to consider some of the most important issues that were brought to the table as a result of the extensive demand setting process involving all college faculty.

After opening statements on the first day of negotiations, the second day found the two sides exchanging opening proposals. However, it only took 24 hours from the union’s presentation of their first set of proposals for management to declare their lack of belief in the need to discuss issues ranging from faculty’s top issue of academic freedom/collegial governance to the grievance process.

For the full details, please see the official statement from the bargaining team found on www.collegefaculty.org. You can also find all the bargaining updates on this site at http://www.sixfivethree.ca/bargaining-2017/

These are complex and important issues that have been ignored for too long at the bargaining table. We encourage all our members to inform themselves and spread the work amongst colleagues and friends.
